Update: More individual control over your Songs & Media permissions in Services

We’re thrilled to announce a significant upgrade to how permissions work in Planning Center Services.

What's new

You can now set each person's permission levels for the Songs and Media pages, completely independent of their permissions for the People and Plans pages (previously called “General Permissions”).

These new granular settings give you more control than ever before, ensuring each team member only accesses what they need, tailored to the ministry they serve in.

Example 1: if your Kids Ministry needs access to Edit Media for curriculum but they don’t need access to Songs, you can now set those permissions to fit those needs.

Example 2: If a Choir Team Member is a Scheduled Viewer but you would like to give them access to your Songs database, but don’t want to elevate their overall permissions, you can now set their Song Permissions to Viewer without needing to elevate their permissions in other areas.

1. People and Plans: Control access to the Plans and People Index pages.
   • Define who can view, edit, or manage plans.
   • Set permissions for accessing the People page in Services.
2. Songs: Manage access to the Songs Database and define permission levels for song-related activities.
   • Determine who can view, add, or edit songs in your library.
3. Media: Manage access to the Media Database and set permissions for media management.
   • Determine who can view, upload, edit, or manage media files.
4. File Access: Fine-tune access to specific file types associated with songs, media, or plans.

When adding a new person to Services, you can now set their full permissions upfront, rather than waiting until after their profile is created. This includes assigning People and Plans permissions down to specific Folders or Service Types, as well as managing their Songs and Media permissions.

With separate permissions for Songs and Media, you can precisely control who can view or edit specific pages based on their role.
