When giving with a bank account , donors usually have two options:
Instant verification: Most major banks support this, and it’s done in seconds.
Manual verification: Smaller banks often require this, sending a $0.01 micro-deposit with a code donors enter to verify their account. It usually takes a few days.
Previously, if someone added a new bank account with manual verification, they couldn’t complete their donation right away. They had to abandon their original gift (including recurring donations) and remember to come back later once their bank account was verified.
Now, in the new donation form , donors can finish their donation in one go! If they manually add a new bank account while giving, the donation is created immediately and will process automatically once the account is verified. Until then, it appears in Church Center as “Awaiting verification.”
This means donors can set up recurring donations without interruption, even if their bank requires a few days for verification.
If it's a one-time donation, it will show under "Donation history" with the "Awaiting verification" badge.
The details:
For one-time donations, donors will see a reminder that their donation will process immediately after verification is complete.
They’ll have 10 days to complete verification (this hasn’t changed). Otherwise, the donation will fail, and the donor will be notified that the failure was due to the bank account not being verified.
For recurring donations, if the first scheduled occurrence falls within the 10-day window but before verification is complete, it will fail and the notice will be sent. The next scheduled occurrence will succeed if the account is verified in time. If not, the recurring donation remains in Church Center, but will show a warning that the payment method is missing.
